Smithsonian museums regularly host an incredible spectrum of special events, from evenings of jazz and dance nights to food and wine tastings, films, lectures, and events for families and kids. Popular events include live jazz on Friday evenings in summer from 5 to 8:30 at the National Gallery of Art sculpture garden and Take Five performances every third Thursday from 5 to 7 at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The National Museum of the American Indian often holds weekend festivals that showcase the history and culture of native peoples from the around the world, complete with workshops, film screenings, hands-on activities for all ages, craft shows, and cooking demonstrations.
