Foggy Bottom includes some of D.C.'s most iconic attractions, the top being the White House, the home of every U.S. president but George Washington. Visitors may have a tough time deciding what to see first: the numerous war memorials on the National Mall, the Tidal Basin, or some of Washington's better, if smaller, museums. Adding to the variety, you will find the Kennedy Center along the Potomac River and George Washington University's campus. Surprisingly, the area has a strong residential character as well, and is home to some of D.C.'s oldest houses.
