Thriving Fort Greene is one of the latest hot Brooklyn neighborhoods, full of young professionals and families drawn here by leafy streets and great food and drink venues. The bars here are just cool enough to rival Williamsburg’s, but with a slightly older and less image-conscious crowd. It can be a trek to get to from Manhattan, but the rewards are many, including some of the best restaurants in Brooklyn, lovely brownstones, and beautiful Fort Greene Park. As with many other areas of Brooklyn, Fort Greene has long been a home to famous writers and musicians like Notorious B.I.G. and Cecil Taylor, and fittingly it's also the locale of one of the city's top performing-arts powerhouses, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, known as BAM.
