Use common sense when exploring these neighborhoods, especially at night. The Marigny is the safest of the three to explore during daylight hours, and Frenchmen Street is a safe, crowded, nightlife hotspot. Outside of Frenchmen Street, it's best to drive or cab at night. Bywater is mostly safe, but it's next to some rough neighborhoods; it's advisable to travel by car, especially if you're going into the Lower Ninth Ward. The part of Tremé closest to Canal Street is home to the Iberville Projects, an area you'll generally want to steer clear of. Use caution throughout Tremé.
