St. Lucia's resorts and small inns are nearly all tucked into lush, secluded coves, unspoiled beaches, or forested hillsides in three primary locations along the calm Caribbean (western) coast: Rodney Bay north to Cap Estate, Castries to Marigot Bay, and in and around Soufrière. Only one resort is in the south at Vieux Fort.

Big Beach Resorts: Most people choose to stay in one of St. Lucia's many beach resorts, the majority of which are upscale and fairly pricey. Several resorts offer an all-inclusive option, including three Sandals resorts and two Sunswept resorts (The Body Holiday and Rendezvous), Morgan Bay Beach Resort, East Winds Inn, and Smugglers Cove Resort.

Small Inns: If you want something more intimate and perhaps less expensive, St. Lucia has dozens of small, locally owned inns and hotels that may or may not be directly on the beach.

Villas: Luxury villa communities and independent private villas are a good alternative for families. Many of these are in the north in or near Cap Estate.
