The attractions of 19th- to 21st-century Lisbon are as diverse as they are far-flung. Near the large square Praça dos Restauradores, north of Rossio, the southern reaches of the modern city echo some of the Baixa. With its 10 parallel rows of trees, and themed drink-and-snack kiosks, Avenida da Liberdade is an enchanting place in which to linger and an easy-to-find reference point if you get lost in the surrounding backstreets. North of the city's main park, Parque Eduardo VII, the modern city stretches into residential suburbs with only the occasional attraction.
