Montlouis—like Vouvray, its sister town on the north side of the Loire—is noted for white wines, and you can learn all about the vintages produced here at the Cave Touristique on Place Courtemanche. Afterward, retreat to the Château de la Bourdaisière, Prince Louis-Albert de Broglie’s suitably regal hotel on the eastern side of town (even day-trippers who can’t spend a night can visit it on a guided tour).
