Although Arles, Les Baux, and St-Rémy have stylish, competitive hotels with all the requisite comforts and Provençal touches, from wrought iron to folklorique cottons, Nîmes doesn't attract—or much merit—the overnight crowds; thus, its hotels, with rare exception, have little in the way of charm. But throughout the region and well outside the towns you can find lovely converted mas (farmhouses), blending into the landscape as if they'd been there a thousand years—but offering modern pleasures: gardens, swimming pools, and sophisticated cooking.
