There are no minimum residency requirements to get married; however, you need to obtain a marriage license from the Ministry of Home Affairs (246/621–0227). All wedding arrangements must be made with a magistrate or marriage officer (e.g., minister) prior to applying for the license, with a letter from the marriage officer who has consented to perform the ceremony presented with the application. The marriage license fee is Bds$100 plus Bds$13 for a stamp. For a civil marriage ceremony at the court, a separate fee of Bds$125 is payable to the court; for an alternative venue, Bds$350. A marriage certificate costs Bds$20. All fees must be paid in cash. If either person was divorced or widowed, a certified copy of the divorce decree or other appropriate paperwork is required.
