If you’re planning to head to the Big Apple or to the sunny resorts of Cancun, Mexico, for a Thanksgiving getaway, you won’t be alone.

Those two cities are the most popular domestic and international destinations for American travelers over the Thanksgiving holiday, according to a new report from the travel insurance company Allianz Global Assistance.  Allianz reviewed more than 4.5 million Thanksgiving travel plans to find the same two cities were the top spots for the third consecutive year.

Atlanta, Los Angeles, Orlando and Boston were among the top five U.S. destinations for a holiday trip. Following Cancun as the most popular international Thanksgiving hot spots were London; Paris; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and Tokyo.

Dallas, Washington and Seattle also made the domestic list this year. Also on the international list were Montego Bay, Jamaica; Rome; and Nassau, Bahamas.

The busiest travel days, according to the Allianz report, are Nov. 18 for international trips and Nov. 21 for domestic trips, with returns generally planned for Nov. 25–26.
