I’m clearly not alone in loving Dubrovnik. The gorgeous Croatian city by the sea has become almost impossibly crowded, thanks at least in part to Game of Thrones fans — who flock there to see some of the sites where the show has been filmed — and to the huge number of cruise ship passengers packed within the city’s medieval walls each day. (The throngs are worst in July and August.)
And yet Croatia is a spectacular country with so much more to offer, including magnificent parks and historical treasures. Consider visiting these areas; they’re likely to be far less jammed and just as memorable.
